Quartz powder is generally called quartz sand or silica powder. Of course, there is a distinction between quartz sand and quartz powder: the fineness of quartz sand is below 120 mesh, and the fineness of quartz powder is above 120 mesh. Because its main mineral component is silicate and its hardness reaches 7, the chemical properties of quartz powder are very stable, and it is hard, wear-resistant and insoluble in acid. Quartz powder is often used in metallurgy, enamel, chemical industry and other industries, while ultra-fine quartz powder Powder is more used in ideal glass, precision manufacturing, etc.

The use of quartz powder is widely used in coatings and fillers in industrial production. Because quartz powder has good scattering and extinction effects, and the density of ultra-fine quartz powder is relatively low, the whiteness is as high as 92~95 and the color is bright, so it will replace traditional glass beads in reflective paint in industrial applications. Among them, the skid resistance has been greatly improved, and the reflective properties are better than glass beads; ultrafine quartz powder is also widely used in automotive primer coatings and special fillers.

In addition, ultra-fine quartz powder is often used in the industrial production of nylon casting and resin casting to reduce the shrinkage ratio of casting cooling. When the pouring temperature reaches 220-240°C, the quartz powder will expand in a certain proportion, which can compensate for the shrinkage of the gypsum due to the curing reaction below this temperature during pouring, so that the whole process of pouring will not be deformed.

Therefore, many companies use this characteristic of quartz powder in industrial production. In nylon casting, potting glue and other precision manufacturing, they will add ultra-fine quartz powder to nylon and all resin systems to take advantage of the characteristics of ultra-fine quartz powder. Reduce the shrinkage ratio of the resin during cooling.

Therefore, the use of quartz powder is mainly in the glass industry, metallurgical industry and other industrial manufacturing. In the glass manufacturing industry, manufacturers use the scattering and good extinction ability of ultrafine quartz powder to manufacture optical glass instruments, conductive glass and various packaging bottles and jars. In addition, in the production of the foundry industry, quartz powder will be used as an additive and flux to reduce the shrinkage ratio of pouring cooling, and use the high content of silicon in quartz powder to make ferrosilicon alloys for metal smelting.

Quartz powder is generally not divided into grades, but only differentiated according to specifications, so quartz powder has a wide range of uses.
